Fab home in Brisbane, Australia

By Homes abroad No Comments

Don’t see this minty green colour on the walls often but this house in Brisbane, Australia is just bursting with intrigue.  I must say that kitchen is to die for, I’m guessing from the good old colonial days. Read more about the people living there by following the link below…

Love what your have or get rid of it!

The more you add and create the more interesting the space becomes.

An eclectic interior is one of the hardest styles to pull off in an interior. And by all means not every ones cup of tea. Many people just have a natural talent at getting a mix just right.  It’s all about mixing and layering and having fun!                                                               The picture below is a fun example for an eclectic style. There’s a mix of the old with the new, matt with the shiny, a little vintage with the modern. I think a visual tension adds massive intrigue to a room. And SO important to love the furniture you have in the space you’re using, otherwise it will create an unbalance to the room…well not just for the room but with yourself. Believe me it’s true. Living with a piece of furniture that annoys you is just not worth having, right?

SO LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE OR GET RID OF IT!

New light and airy entranceway

By My work No Comments

A recent client of min has been working hard over the summer holidays painting and redecorating her entrance, hallway and stairway. And what a surprise I got when I visited her last week!   The transition from the old to the new you can see was incredible.

There needed a good basis colour that would work in and show off all the outstanding paintings and beautiful artwork that was already on the walls around the house.   The panel on the walls in the entrance and hallways would have cost a lot of time and money to remove so it was decided to work with the problem. By slightly enhancing the panel with a darker colour than the rest of the walls and ceiling created a more harmonized and fun transition to the slate tiled floors.

The wallpaper on the wall in the stairwell is from the Scandinavian Surface girls called Black Beech and this joins beautifully the entranceway and hallways together. You can see below at the plansje at what was suggested and used for the revamping!

Have a wonderfully sunny day :-)

Presenting NEW design from Danmark

By Happenings, Shelving No Comments

When I was in Denmark just before the summer, I had the pleasure to meet a most fantastic furniture designer called Heidi Wiinberg. With her husband they make some very classical and timeless pieces of furniture.  Teve shelves are the latest addition to their exclusive design collection. Beautiful solid wood shelves in 3 different sizes they look a bit like the old tv box from many years ago. They can be stabled upon each other so you can build a solid unit just to your liking. Sounds like fun -nothing like good design.

And I’m VERY proud to announce that this good Scandinavian design Teve from Wiinbergis  is coming to Bergen at my stand at the Interiør&Bolig messen in September!!!

Thats Heidi, not me, by the way…pics courtesy av Wiinberg

The dark side

Sometimes we have to go outside our comfort zone to achieve something awesome.  And painting walls in dark charcoals, sexy inky blues or black can just be the thing to create that absolute amazing space in your home. Follow your instinct and your heart…heres some inspiration for the weekend!

Pimping up lampshades

By Lighting No Comments

Check out these oversized lampshades! What a good idea.  Material on the lampshades is from the amazing swedish designer Lisa Bengtsson.  And you can buy this material on-line through Bemz.com. If you happen to have some oversized lampshades in your home try re-vamping up an old lampshade. Or two. Sounds like something to do for the weekend:-)
