Danish design meets Bergens’ Interior trade fair

By Furniture, Happenings, My work No Comments

RoomDesign is big on individualism for an interior.  Our very own interior style is an evolving thing that can last all our lives. It NEVER stops! Don’t you agree we all want that kick ass interior that mirrors you and what you are?  Individual as you are and not just look like it comes from out from an interior magazine. We need a little confidence…and a little fun.

And speaking of individualism, while I was on a course in Denmark before summer this year I meet a fantastic girl who designs these beautifully made shelves with her husband. The form and design caught my eye instantly, and then and there knew I just have to show off these exclusive shelves at my stand at the fair. And Heidi agreed! Retro designed, individual and classic enough in style to hold for many years to come.  Stack them, decide which legs you want, build your very own designed shelf unit to your own needs, its limitless! It’s the first time the shelves are shown exclusively on the Norwegian market. Now unfortunately she is unable to come to the fair but is entrusting me with the task of presenting her shelves :-)))

So come and see these beautiful shelves at RoomDesigns stand.

Looking at individualism at its best for furniture design.

Paulistano armchair

By Furniture No Comments

Paulistano armchair…elegant, simple, unobtrusive, stylish and classical.  Originally designed in 1957 by Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha for the living room of the Athletic Club of São Paulo, the simple, cantileevered design is timeless. It’s constructed from one single piece of bent steel and stretched with leather.   L.O.V.E and want!

Step 2: Floorplans & moodboards

By Furniture, Livingroom, My work No Comments

First visit with a client is like being a detective; finding the values, needs and wishes. Reading between the lines and discovering the personalities that live in the home. My job is to find and recreate a home that they can call THEIR own! So working very closely and listening to what they say is the utmost importance. To achieve a fantastic result!

So here is yesterday’s work, with a client, in progress; first moodboard with floorplans.

Kitchen table, sofa corner and dining table in focus…

What do you think?

You like?

Have a great day everyone:-)

If it makes you happy…

By Flooring, Furniture, Livingroom, Wallpaper No Comments

Today I have to share a picture with you.

It just makes me want to smile.

Those cranes legs under the coffee table are just so gorgeous. It fills me with love that the bird pictures are scattered over the whole wall.     Now I’m sure a lot of interior designers out there would just shake their heads in disbelief.  But the colours in the room harmonize nicely, the rustic flooring grounds the room beautifully with the modern sofa and the old style wallpaper. So why not make a little wacky in-balance to tantalize the eye and make the room fun!

So if it makes you happy why not!

Perfectionism sucks.

I dig this picture today. It’s all in the way you put everything together that sets the mood in a room. It’s unexpected, unpretentious and coincidental. Let the interior you live in show what type of person YOU ARE and not somebody else. Forget the perfect room go for a room bursting with personality that tells me all about you. Loving it!

Happy day everyone.

An eye for detail

By Colours, Furniture, Interior styles, Livingroom No Comments

I find myself very fascinated with this living room below and had to share it with you.  There are just so many interesting details to this room I just don’t know where to begin! The lemon walls with the beige silky curtains. The pictures hung tightly over the top of the windows. The chunky wood base furniture with the classical reading chairs in the back ground. Check the Scandinavian pendel lamp-shade and the brassy French metal floor lamp in the foreground.  Lemon, gold, beige and black. What a mix! And I love the linen coloured floss rug on the polished concrete floor.  Here lives somebody with an eye for detail.

Slow chair

By Furniture No Comments

Slow chair from the French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, it is made of an extremely strong, shaped knit which fits over the metal frame like a fitted stocking. Due to the knitted sling cover, the Slow Chair is extremely comfortable. The translucent knit replaces the thick cushions of traditional armchairs, making a very lightweight yet elegant big styled chair. And I don’t think I have ever tried a more comfortable chair than the Slow Chair. It has to be tried to believe! So for those of you living in Bergen, TiT Design has it displayed in their store. Take a tit in their store and try it out! I’m in love:)

Deep and moody…

By Colours, Furniture, Interior styles, Livingroom No Comments

….haven’t had many dark and moody pictures for a while now. I love the dark green walls with yellow and mustard as contrasting colours in this picture below. The glossy picture on the matt wall highlights the picture perfectly with the rest of the room. It’s a very balanced interior which brings the picture and the furnishings together. Very cool!

‘Christmas Free’

By Colours, Furniture, Interior styles No Comments

With all the hustle and bustle and commotion and stress connected to Christmas I have made a decision to go ‘Christmas Free’ from all festive pictures.  Now you might say BORING with a yawn but honestly the only reason I don’t like Christmas is because of all the stress that it involves. So I say ‘CHILL OUT’ people, take it easy, enjoy every day as it is. Love and re-use. Love what you have and NOT what you don’t have! And today I’m loving this eclectic mix picture…so enjoy:)
